Sectional time for the Cougars as Greenfield-Central took on Southport at Franklin Central. GC had a good warmup and looked prepared and ready to go for the game. Both teams had chances in the first few minutes of the game. After a few hard hits, injuries and substitutions both teams started to settle into their own rhythm. Southport took the lead from a cross around 17 minutes into the half. GC didn’t back down and kept pushing. The halftime score was 0-2. With a goal for Southport coming right before the half ended. A few changes were made and the second half began. GC were able to create a few good scoring opportunities but couldn’t convert. Southport scored 2 more goals to make the score 0-4. In the last few minutes of the game, GC subbed in some younger players to give them a taste of what sectional soccer is like. Thank you to all the players, managers, parents, coaches, and fans that support this program all year long.
