Varsity vs Shelbyville High School Win On Senior night 5-0. The Cougars came out firing as Ainsley Robinson and Paige McCarley each put shots on goal in the opening two minutes. McCarley followed up with another attempt in the 8th minute before Shelbyville pressed forward, only to be stopped by strong defensive play from Millli Aldridge and Brooklyn Emily in the 15th. GC struck first at the 17th minute when Aubrey Bush buried a shot off an assist from Jessica Kleinknight. Just six minutes later, Mia Brinkruff extended the lead to 2–0 with a finish set up by Mer Rodriguez. McCarley nearly added to the tally in the 28th with a shot across the face of goal, and GC continued piling on the pressure with multiple attempts to close out the half up 2–0. The second half opened with McCarley slipping a perfect through ball to Lucy Blanton, who finished inside the six for GC’s third goal. Minutes later, McCarley delivered a corner that Lexi Kerkhof converted to make it 4–0. Rodriguez then set up McCarley for a dangerous strike in the 14th minute, but the Shelbyville keeper made the stop. GC kept pressing, with Rodriguez narrowly missing over the crossbar in the 22nd. McCarley later capitalized on a goal kick in the 25th minute of the half, slotting it home for the Cougars’ fifth and final goal.
