Cougars defeat the Golden Bears in Overtime The CG Cougars came up with a big Homecoming win on Friday, September 19th, defeating the Shelbyville Golden Bears in overtime (28-27). Offensively, the Cougars were led by Cooper Hinton, who carried the ball 29 times for 145 yards, one touchdown, and a two-point conversion. Braylen Benavente added 75 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Memphis Blevins connected on two field goals, including a clutch kick in the closing seconds of regulation to send the game into overtime. Defensively, the Cougars were paced by McCoy Wilson with 10 tackles, Cooper Hinton with nine tackles, and Zach Waterman, who came up with two interceptions. The Cougar defense sealed the victory in overtime by stopping Shelbyville’s two-point conversion attempt.
