GC Tennis beats Pendleton 5-0

GC Tennis Sweeps Pendleton Heights 5-0. Greenfield-Central boys’ tennis earned a 5-0 victory over conference rival Pendleton Heights, improving to 5-1 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play. At No. 2 singles, Alex Michalek cruised to a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win. No. 1 singles Nathan Roberts got off to a fast start, taking the first set 6-0 before falling behind 1-4 in the second. Roberts battled back to force a tiebreak and came out on top 7-6 (2) to win in straight sets. At No. 3 singles, Andrew White fought through a tight two-set battle, taking the first set 6-4 and edging out the second in a tiebreak 7-6 (2). At No. 2 doubles, Ethan Ortwein and Raleigh Gantt played a strong match, earning a solid 6-3, 7-5 win. No. 1 doubles pairing Jacob Welch and Kasen Jarnecke delivering the highlight of the night. The duo showed grit and composure, winning two tiebreaks to seal a straight-sets victory 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5). In JV action, Greenfield-Central fell 2-5. Winners for the Cougars were Jack Herrin, Kayden Green, Landon Leistner, and Kane Dreeson.
