After a tough loss on Tuesday night, GC had a quick turnaround to get ready to face conference rivals Mt Vernon. After a hard fought first half with both teams having their own chances, the score held 0-0. Little changes were made at halftime from GC and the energy stayed the same. The battle from the first half continued deep into the second half. The deadlock was broken after a precise pass from Rosalvo found Chase Scott’s feet. GC had a 1-0 lead for a majority of the second half until a late header from MV leveled the score. Overtime and potentially PKs on the way. GC was pushing but conceded a goal in the final seconds for a final of 1-2 in MVs favor.
