Boys Varsity Tennis improves to 9-1

Match Report: GC Tennis Defeats Triton Central 4-1 The Greenfield-Central boys tennis team secured a strong 4-1 victory over Triton Central on Wednesday evening. The Cougars jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with dominant performances from #2 Singles Alex Michalek, who won 6-2, 6-0, and the #2 Doubles team of Ethan Ortwein and Raleigh Gantt, who cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. #3 Singles Andrew White was next off the court, sealing the match for GC with a solid 6-2, 6-2 win. #1 Singles Nathan Roberts followed with a steady 6-3, 6-3 performance, earning the fourth point for the Cougars. The #1 Doubles team of Jacob Welch and Kasen Jarnecke battled through a tough three-set match, bouncing back with a 6-0 second set before falling in a third-set tiebreaker. The JV team also came out on top, winning 4-2, highlighted by a thrilling comeback from the #2 Doubles pair Guyton Hutcherson and Kane Dreeson, who rallied from 3-7 down to win in a tiebreak. Other JV winners included Nash Berty, Kayden Green, Jackson Herrin, Parker Springman, and Jack Joyner. The team is now 9-1 and will next play at the Cougar Round Robin on Saturday.
