Paige McCarley found Mer Rodriguez, who put the ball just past the goalkeeper on the right side for the opening goal. Minutes later, McCarley fired a shot of her own in the 11th minute. Pendleton answered with pressure, creating some chaos in front of goal. A near penalty situation turned into an equalizer, making it 1–1. With five minutes left in the half, Ainsley Robinson’s free kick tested the keeper, but was stopped. Just before the break, Pendleton slipped in another goal to take a 1–2 lead into halftime. Three minutes into the second half, Pendleton capitalized off a transition chance to extend the lead. GC kept battling, with Aubrey Bush breaking through one-on-one with the keeper, only to see her shot hit the post. Pendleton added another at the 11-minute mark, making it 1–4. Pendleton finds their 5th of the evening. GC adjusted by switching formation. The move paid off when Bush assisted Mia Brinkruff for a goal making it 2-5. Shortly after Brinkruff struck again with the assist from Bush cutting the deficit to 3-5. GC had many opportunities to cut to the deficit but were unable to capitalize. Despite the loss, GC showed resilience and continued working to find solutions and improve execution. Final: GC 3 - Pendleton 5 JV travels to Westfield on 9/4.
