Bryce Cotterman was the individual County Champion. Cotterman went from 11th last year, one spot shy of All-County, to the County Champion this year. The realization of what he is capable of and mindset shift of being willing to do what it takes to be his best, led to his jump from one year to the next. He took the race from the beginning with no one going with him, which led to a 25 second victory over 2nd place (New Palestine's, Mike Bauer). Braylon Mumaugh ran his first 5k since last September finishing 5th in 16:49. It was a great opening 5k for him after dealing with injury for the majority of the year. He has been a cross-training warrior this past year, and will continue to improve as the season goes on. Senior, David Wasson was also All-County finishing 7th in 17:01, his best time on the Mt. Vernon Course. Henry Rahe just missed All-County finishing 11th in 17:30. Freshman, Maeson Robinson, had a great race, stepping up for the Cougars to take the final scoring spot in 14th. Robinson dropped over a minute and a half from his first 5k two weeks ago. Adam Shields, also ran a great race with an almost 35 second pr to finish 15th in 18:12. Jaxon Conaway and Michael Peterson once again battled to the finish with Conaway prevailing by one second. The two Cougars finished 19th and 20th, in 18:25 and 18:26, both dropping about 50 seconds from their previous best. Peterson's time is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and desire to excel over the last year. After starting cross country last fall, Peterson dropped almost 6.5 minutes from the same meet last year to this year. Freshman Parker Lawson ran a good first 5k, finishing in 19:27. Senior, Fred Gordon ran a pr in 19:40, and junior Hunter Wiswell, dropped almost a minute to run his fastest race in 20:48. In the JV race, Nick Ryba ran 22:01. Freshmen Noah Harrison, and Henry Clossey competed well in their first 5k's finishing in 23:22 and 23:29 respectively. Senior Elijah Johnson also completed his first 5k running 25:42.
