Cougars lose 0-1 to East Central In the first game of the Cougar Cup, GC takes on East Central in what has been an ongoing rivalry for the last few years. The game was very physical from the first whistle and East Central was better prepared for playing that style of soccer. Both teams had their chances but neither could convert in what was a scoreless first half. GC’s backline was doing a great job of cutting off all of EC’s attacking breaks. As the game continued, the formation got stretched apart and EC was able to score a from a floated ball to the back post. For the next several minutes after the EC goal, all of the pressure was on GC’s defense. After regaining some composure, GC was able to string together a few chances. Greenfield-Central pushed for the equalizer in the final minutes of the game, but could not find the back of the net. The final score was 0-1. Greenfield-Central will take on Franklin Central in the consolation game at 5:30.
