In a thrilling boys’ golf match that came down to the wire, Greenfield Central edged out Greenwood by the slimmest of margins on Wednesday, officially winning 164–164 after a tiebreaker decision. The evenly matched teams battled through 9 holes, both finishing with identical team scores of 164. With the outcome hinging on the fifth score—a common high school golf tiebreaker rule—Greenfield Central’s Senior Andrew Munden stepped up under pressure. Munden’s round of 44 ultimately tipped the scales in favor of the Cougars, securing the win in dramatic fashion. While the match was a collective team effort, the standout performance of the day came from another Greenfield Central senior. Avery Young turned in an impressive 1-under-par 35, the lowest individual score of the match. Young’s consistent play provided a crucial foundation for Greenfield’s total and helped position the team for the eventual tiebreaker triumph. The win adds momentum to Greenfield Central’s season as they continue to fine-tune their game heading into the section tournament.
