In a well-pitched game by both teams The Cougars come home victorious. In the 1st Josie White singled, advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch, she then steals third. Kristen Wineinger walks, Savvanna Riall singles scoring White and Wineinger Scores on a Charlotte Riehle single, Riall advances to 3rd on throw, Tovaria lined out to center field scoring Riall and the Cougars lead 3-0. In the 4th the Cougars tacked on a big insurance run Avery Daniels singled, White reached on an error, and Wineinger singled to center scoring Daniels, Cougars lead 4-0. Mt Vernon scored in the top of the 6th on a double, and 2 singles, Leilani Forshey picked a low throw that saved a couple runs and the inning ended with a ground out to White. The Marauders wouldn't give up in the 7th they had a double and a walk, but Heacox closed out the game jamming the final hitter getting a weak hit ball in front of the plate Riehle threw to 1st to end the game. Cougars only managed 6 hits, and the Marauders had 4. Heacox went all 7th innings allowing 4 hits, 1 earned 1 walking 5 and striking out 4 for the win. The Lady Cougars are back in action in round 2 of sectional 9 vs Pendleton Heights at 7pm Tuesday
