Cougars outlast Seymour 7-5 Varsity vs Seymour High School Cougars win 3-1 over Hamilton Heights Varsity vs Hamilton Heights High School. In game 1 of the Cougar Classic the Lady Cougars jump out to an early lead and defeated Seymour 7-5. The Cougars scored 2 in the 1st, 3 in the 2nd and single runs in the 3rd and 4th. Josie White went 2 for 3, a double, a bb, 2 runs scored, Kristen Wineinger was 2 for 4, Savvanna Riall was 2 for 3, a solo home run, bb, scored twice and drove in 3. Charlotte Riehle and Avery Daniels had doubles, and Abby Capen a single to account for our 9 hits, Riehle, Hornaday, Forshey and Daniels each had a rbi, Addi Heacox went 6 innings to get the win allowing 8 hits, 2 runs, 2 earned runs and striking out 3, Ailea Dowdy threw an inning allowing 4 hits, 3 runs all earned and struck out 1. The Lady Cougars advance to the Championship game. The Championship game got off to a great start with Savvanna Riall blasting her 2nd home run of the day her 9th of the year to give us a 2-0 lead going into the 2nd inning. No scoring in innings 2 through 4 as Addi Heacox continued to baffle the Huskie hitters. The Cougars would push across another run in the 5th to take a 3-0 lead. The 6th inning Hamilton Heights got on the board with a solo home run by K. Rhoton but the Cougar pitchers shut them down to secure the victory. The Cougar offense was powered by Josie White going 2 for 4, Savvanna Riall 2 for 2, bb, a 2-run homer and drove in all 3 runs, Kristen Wineinger had a double, scored twice and Abby Capen added a double and a bb. Addie Heacox got the win going 6 and third, allowing 1 run, 1 earned run and striking out 7, Tovaria Smith came in to record the final 2 outs striking out 1 and getting a save. The Cougars are back in action on Monday vs Shelbyville, and we will honor our seniors before the start of the game at 7:30pm
