Team Scores Mt. Vernon 164 Greenfield-Central 98 New Palestine 94.50 Yorktown 93 Delta 65.50 Pendleton Heights 58 New Castle 25 Shelbyville 24 The Cougars finished runner-up in the Conference to Mt. Vernon barely edging out New Palestine and Yorktown by 3.5 and 5 points respectively. The discus was the best event for the Cougars with Zach Blevens winning, and freshman, Von Quigley, finishing runner-up. Blevens' winning throw was 150'11". Memphis Blevens threw a pr and was 5th, but unfortunately only two athletes per team could score. Bradley Streveler jumped a lifetime best of 6'6" enroute to his Conference Championship in the high jump. He came out on top in a jump off with Delta's Cade Utsler. Jordin Jones picked up valuable points finishing runner up in the 400 and freshman, Will Erwin, added a 7th place finish. Jaxon Conaway ran a 1 second pr in the 400. Bryce Cotterman ran a great race to finish 2nd in the 1600. Cotterman outsprinted Mt. Vernon's Xaiden Jenson, who outsprinted him last week at County, to outperform his seed. Jalen Stuckey finished 3rd in the 100 and 7th in the 200. Austin Kincer finished 7th in the 100 and 8th in the 200. Liam Taylor jumped a pr in the pole vault to finish 4th in 13'0". In one of the most shocking races of the night, Braylon Mumaugh, in his first race of the season with only minimal running, finished 4th in the 800 from the slow heat. Mumaugh has worked as hard as possible cross training by swimming, biking, or using the elliptical. His time of 2:05 was only two second slower than his best last year. Heavy favorite, Caden Cassada from Mt. Vernon, who has run a 1:53, finished 10th in 2:07. In the 3200, freshman Jack Wait, finished 6th place. John Stuckey finished 7th in the long jump. Everett Bishop had a busy night with 4 events and scored in all of them. He finished 7th in the 110 hurdles, and 8th in both the high jump and 300 hurdles. He was also on the 4x4 that finished 2nd. The 4x8 team of Henry Rahe, Garrett Jack, Peter Hummel, and Bryce Cotterman finished 3rd, and the 4x1 team of John Stuckey, Austin Kincer, Ian Erwin, and Jalen Stuckey finished 4th. Going into the last running event, the Cougars were in 3rd place to New Palestine by 1.5 points. The 4x4 team of Garrett Bishop, Everett Bishop, Will Erwin, and Jordin Jones finished 2nd, one spot ahead of New Palestine to take a 0.5 point lead. With only the shot put left, freshman Von Quigley, finished 6th place, adding 3 points to the Cougars. The Dragons did not score in the event, however, the Tigers of Yorktown, down 14, had the Conference Champion and 7th place finishers, but it ultimately wasn't enough to overtake either the Dragons or the Cougars for 2nd place.
