Jordin Jones sets 400 School Record as Cougars finish 2nd at County

County Scores Mount Vernon 112 Greenfield 58 New Palestine 54 Eastern Hancock 20 The highlight of the meet was the 400 meter dash where Jordin Jones won and broke the school record by 0.1 seconds. Jones's time and the new record is 50.08. Garrett Jack also finished third in the event. The Cougars scored most of their points in the field events, and the best event was the discus. Von Quigley won with a throw of 151'2", Zach Blevens was 2nd with 137'8", and Memphis Blevens was 5th with a throw of 128'2". Von Quigley and Zach Blevens also finished 3rd and 4th in the shot put. John Stuckey (long jump) and Liam Taylor both finished 2nd (pole vault). Also in the pole vault, Hunter Jones finished 5th. Back on the track in the relays, the Cougars finished 2nd in the 4x4 and 3rd in both the 4x8 and 4x1. In the 100 and 200, Jalen Stuckey finished 3rd and 4th, and Ian Erwin finished 5th in the 100 and John Stuckey finished 5th in the 200. In the 300 hurdles Everett Bishop ran his best time to finish 4th. Peter Hummel finished 4th in the 3200. In the 1600, Ahmed Saleh ran away with the race in 4:15, but 2nd through 4th were only separated by 0.25 seconds. Mount Vernon's Xaiden Jenson finished 2nd in 4:22.41. Eastern Hancock's Preston Markley finished 3rd in 4:22.63, and Bryce Cotterman finished 4th in 4:22.66. The time was a 10 second pr for Cotterman.
