Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars Claims Win In Thrilling Showdown Against Shenandoah Junior Varsity Raiders

Junior Varsity vs Shenandoah High School (11 - 10) Win Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars bested Shenandoah Junior Varsity Raiders 11-10 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at 10 in the top of the seventh when Christine Heckley singled, scoring one run. Bats blistered as Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars collected 16 hits and Shenandoah Junior Varsity Raiders tallied eight in the high-scoring game. Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Mia Hodge singled, scoring two runs, and Avery Daniels doubled, scoring one run. Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars added two runs in the second after Olivia Bradshaw singled down the left field line. A single by Keely Allen gave Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars the lead, 10-8, in the top of the sixth. Shenandoah Junior Varsity Raiders tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to an error, and a single by Kylee Purcell. Addison Brunsting earned the win for Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and eight runs (five earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out none and walking two. Riley Knowling took the loss for Shenandoah Junior Varsity Raiders. The righty went seven innings, allowing 11 runs (eight earned) on 16 hits, striking out five and walking one. Heckley collected the save. Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars accumulated 16 hits in the game. Daniels provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars with three runs batted in. The left fielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Heckley went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars in hits. Hodge, Brylee Whitehouse, and Bradshaw each collected multiple hits for Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars. Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars turned one double play in the game. Greenfield-Central Junior Varsity Cougars welcome New Palestine Junior Varsity Dragons on Thursday for their next game.
