Greenfield-Central took center stage at Victory Field on Friday night, earning a dramatic 2-1 walk-off win over Perry Meridian. With the game tied at one in the bottom of the 9th, Carter Ellis came through with the clutch game-winning RBI, driving in Nick Flench to seal the win for the Cougars. It was a true pitcher’s duel under the lights. Sophomore Walker Miller got the start and kept Perry Meridian in check through four solid innings, allowing just one run and striking out three. Freshman Brady Martin was dominant in relief, striking out seven over five scoreless innings to earn the win. Brady Johnson drove in Greenfield-Central’s first run in the 3rd with a sharp single down the left field line to bring home Hayden Zellers, who had reached base on one of his two walks and added two stolen bases on the night. Defensively, the Cougars were sharp, turning a key double play and getting big outs when needed. Offensively, Johnson, Ellis, and Cooper Safford each recorded a hit, while Ellis and Johnson tallied the team’s two RBIs. Greenfield-Central continues to build momentum heading into next week’s matchups, showing poise and confidence in a big-game atmosphere. The Cougars are back in action with a full slate of games: Monday: @ North Central (Away) Tuesday: vs Pendleton Heights (Home) Wednesday: vs Pendleton Heights (Away) Thursday: vs Mooresville (Away) Saturday: @ McCutcheon (Away)
