GC Mens wins big over East Central for 19th win

In a decisive 83-45 win over East Central, the Cougars placed four players in double figures. Senior point guard continued his dominance with a double double as Boston had 10 points and 10 assists while getting 3 steals and 2 boards. With the 10 assists, Boston Willard sets the GC all time single season assist record! Senior Mr. Basketball candidate lead all scorers with 26 points while adding 6 steals, 2 rebounds and 3 assists. Fellow senior Mikey Johnson pitched in 17 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Junior Tucker Brown had an outstanding game with 16 points on 6-7 shooting while adding 3 boards and 2 steals. Senior backup guard Brady Johnson added 9 points, 3 steals and a rebound. Dallas Freeman and Cooper Robertson were also in the scoring column with 3 points and 2 points. In the victory, the Cougar defense forced 24 turnovers and shot an impressive 65% from the field which included 16-30 from behind the arc. The Cougars were a single 3 pointer shy of the GC school record of 17 treys in a game. The Cougars were 90% from the charity stripe and 29-44 overall from the field. Greenfield Central hosts Martinsville Artesians on Saturday February 22nd and will be honoring seniors Boston Willard, Dallas Freeman, Cooper Robertson, Brady Johnson, Mikey Johnson and Braylon Mullins along with manager Carter Rankins. These Cougars have a chance to win 20+ games for a record 3rd year in a row. On Saturday night while honoring the senior class, Braylon Mullins will also be honored as a McDonalds All American. GC then finishes the regular season at Perry Meridian on Wednesday February 26th. The IHSAA Sectional Draw is scheduled for Sunday evening February 23rd. The Cougars will play in 4A Sectional #9 at Muncie Central.
