Varsity Wrestling Finishes 3rd at Cathedral Irish Super Six Tournament

The Greenfield-Central wrestling team showcased it's grit and determination at the Cathedral Irish Super Six tournament, finishing 3rd place with a 3-2 record on the day against tough competition. The Cougars earned victories over #7 Warren Central (46-26), Columbus North (39-35), and top ten Kentucky program, Ryle (45-35). Despite hard fought efforts, the Cougars fell short to #6 Cathedral (30-40) and #4 Avon (21-42). Several individual wrestlers delivered standout performances. Undefeated efforts came from Tristen Lanum (215 lbs), Zach Blevens (285 lbs), and Mason Thompson (165 lbs), all finishing 5-0 on the day. Other top contributors included Cade Zuber (138 lbs), Jett McGuire (120 lbs), and Lincoln Parsons (113 lbs) each posting an impressive 4-1 record. The Cougars faced challenges but demonstrated resilience, proving they can compete with top ranked teams in the state. The Cougars look to continue to build on this success as the season progresses. Next up for the Cougars is county and conference rival New Palestine on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:00 pm. Jaelyn Storch earned a victory by fall in (1:47), while Reagan Burgin suffered a loss by fall in just (0:43). Landen Davis also triumphed with a fall, finishing his match in (1:30). James Ripley lost by a close decision (2-5), and Owen Howell was defeated by a (2-7) decision. The last match of the night for Junior Varisty was Zaiden Tritch, who came out on top with a narrow (3-2) decision. Overall the team showed strong performances and great attitutdes, with notable victories by fall and a few tough, closely contested matches.
