On Thursday the Greenfield-Central Varsity boys' wrestling team welcomed the Flashes of Franklin Central. The Cougars walked away a 50-19 winner. Cam Gardner got the action started at 150 lbs. He battled one of the best wrestlers in the state and wrestled great finally falling in the third period. Senior Aiden Briles got the Cougars on the board with a 4-1 decision. Mason Thompson (165) and Jackson Burgin (175) followed Briles with back-to-back falls. After giving up a tech fall at 190, 215 lb'er Tristan Lanum won by fall. At 285, senior Zach Blevens wrestled a great strategic match to win a 5-1 decision. Kainen Shores and Lincoln Parsons earned a tech fall at 106 and a fall at 113 respectively. Jett McGuire then won a dog fight at 120 10-8. After losing a tech fall and a major decision, the Cougars bounced back with two falls by Cade Zuber (138) and JJ Harlow (144) to end the match. GC is back in action this Saturday at Cathedral. Greenfield-Central vs. Franklin Central: Junior Varsity Wrestling Results In an intense Junior Varsity wrestling meet between Greenfield-Central and Franklin Central, the Greenfield-Central team showed a mix of impressive wins and tough losses. The highlight of the meet was Izzy House, who earned a victory by fall in 4:45. Other notable winners include Hayden Tomey, who secured a fall in 3:46, Dylan Luther, who finished his match in just 39 seconds with a fall, and David Burroughs, who won by fall in 1:26. Landon Davis also earned a victory by fall in 2:44, while Paxton Gerhardt earned a fall victory in 4:22. On the losing side, Greenfield Central’s team faced some tough competition. James Holden lost by major decision (7-12), and several others, including Chase Antle (1:45 by fall), Izaiah Beck (tech fall 1-16), Kayson Ward (tech fall 2-18), Landon Gibson (tech fall 3-18), Hunter Wiswell (3-8), and McCoy Wilson (fall 1:54), were defeated by falls or technical falls. Steven Drake lost by fall in 0:34, while James Ripley (1:24 by fall) and Parker Cupp (4:22 by fall) also suffered falls. In other decisions, Reagan Burgin lost by a close (15-21), Jayden Wiles was defeated (5-11), and Carter Gregory suffered a quick loss by fall in just 14 seconds. However, Owen Howell secured a (4-0) decision victory, and Zaiden Tritch earned a major decision win with a (12-3) score. Despite the mixed results, Junior Varsity shows great promise in their wrestling ability.
