Varsity vs Pendleton Heights High School (36 - 12) Win History was made Wednesday night as the Greenfield-Central Women's Wrestling Team won the first dual meet in program history. Because this is the first year women's wrestling is a sanctioned IHSAA sport this is the first year wins and losses will be officially recorded. This team is now etched in stone in the history of G-C wrestling. The dual started at 125 lbs with sophomore Annie Johnson recording a second-period fall. Annie dominated the match and her opponent spent most of the match on her back. At 140 Katie Rigney battled hard in a physical match eventually losing to a very tough opponent. The match of the night was at 145 where returning champ Maddie March took on G-C stud Jasmine Camacho. Jasmine came out quickly and scored the first takedown. The match was a back-and-forth dogfight as each wrestler gained and lost scoring positions. In the end, Jasmine fell to the champ but showed she belonged with the best in the state. After Ella Harpold received a forfeit at 155, senior Maddy Reed and sophomore Keely Allen both recorded first-period falls. Asia Bowen and Nevaeh Branscum capped off the night with a forfeit each. The final score, G-C 36, PH 12. It was an awesome night for the Cougars. The first of many!
