Greenfield Central Cougars defeats Beech Grove Hornets 62-38 in season home opener. The Cougars have now won their third straight in the battle for the Matt English Trophy! Greenfield Central's Mr. Basketball Candidate lead the way with 35 points on 13-16 shooting while adding 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Senior Mikey Johnson was also in double figures with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Point guard Boston Willard had a stellar night with 5 steals, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and a field goal. Junior Tucker Brown contributed 7 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Cole Mullins added a 3 point field goal and senior Brady Johnson contributed a free throw and 2 rebounds. The 1-0 Cougars play defending state finalist Ben Davis on December 7th at Brownsburg. GC returns to their home court on December 10th and 13th against Decatur Central and county rival New Palestine.
