Varsity vs IHSAA Women's Soccer Sectional In the Sectional opener for the Lady Cougars Soccer team, GC beat Shelbyville 5-0 to advance to the Sectional Championahip. That game will be played Saturday at 2pm down at New Palestine. Early in the game, Paige McCarley took a pass from Loren Bewley near midfield. She dribbled her through the Bear defense and slotted home the first goal. A few more first-half chances just missed for a halftime score of 1-0. The girls refocused their play for the second half and came out firing. Paige McCarley set up Carly Means three times and Carly put them all away for a hat trick. Carly also assisted Liv Ferrara on a goal to bring the final tally to 5-0. Caroline Felver had 3 saves in the win. The Lady Cougars will have a Sectional Championship rematch versus 12th ranked East Central, who beat GC in last year’s game.
