Tonight was TopSoccer Night where the TopSoccer players from Greenfield Area Soccer Club in our community came to be recognized during the starting lineup for Varsity. We appreciate GASC and all the TopSoccer players who came out tonight to enjoy the night and walk out with our players at the beginning of the game. The wind was still going strong and the temps are starting to drop a bit as we get the match underway. Both teams started out strong finding opportunities to score but neither team were able to capitalize early on. With 17:38 remaining on the clock in the first half, Ryan Dietz draws a Foul in the box for a penalty kick. Kaiden Hiner takes the PK and gets the first score on the board for the Cougars. Late in the first half, Nathan Robbins had a long kick that cleared the midline and found Ryan Dietz running onto the pass and get the goal with 3:55 remaining on the clock. Halftime 2-0 Tonight was also Staff Appreciation Night. One of the best moments of the night came at halftime when the Varsity soccer team got to recognize our GCHS staff/teachers for all they do for these student athletes. The teachers were provided dinner and awarded a certificate but nothing can truly express the gratitude we have for them. The boys messages were very well written and it is clear how much of an impact our GCHS staff/teachers have on these kids. Thank you to ALL our GCHS staff, administrators, and teachers for all you do for our kids. Your support tonight was a big boost to help us secure the win! Thank you! The second half was a battle and well played by both sides. Our GC defense made many great plays to keep the shutout and secure the win!
