GREENFIELD-CENTRAL WOMEN’S SOCCER 3A SECTIONAL 12 CHAMPIONSHIP Greenfield-Central 0, Franklin Central 1 The Cougars took the field Saturday afternoon under cloudy skies and windy conditions, ready to compete for a sectional championship. Greenfield-Central created early opportunities, earning a corner kick in the opening minutes before Aubrey Bush narrowly missed on a shot attempt in the eighth minute. The Cougars continued to generate chances, earning another corner kick at the 11:30 mark. Caroline Felver (15 saves) came up with a tremendous save in the 14th minute as Franklin Central pressed forward. The match remained a battle, with both teams working to find an opening. Franklin Central eventually found the back of the net in the 27th minute off of a free kick, creating the difference in a tightly contested championship match. Caroline added another important save in the 33rd minute to keep the Cougars within striking distance. HALFTIME: 0–1 The Cougars continued to fight in the second half, searching for the equalizer. Bush created another opportunity in the 26th minute, but the Franklin Central goalkeeper made the save. Ainsley Robinson added a late free kick attempt as Greenfield-Central continued pushing forward. With less than a minute remaining, the Cougars were still searching for one final opportunity to put the ball in the net. Unfortunately, the equalizer never came, and Greenfield-Central fell 0–1 in the sectional championship. SHE-HULK PLAYER OF THE MATCH — AUBREY BUSH A SEASON TO BE PROUD OF Although the result wasn’t what we wanted, we couldn’t be prouder of this team and the way these girls responded throughout the season. They continued to compete, grow, and represent Greenfield-Central with determination and pride. The team went 10-5-1 overall and 4-1 as runner ups in Hoosier Heritage Conference. Championships are about more than the final score. They are about the work, the adversity, the relationships, and the commitment to something bigger than yourself. Thank you to our players, seniors, families, and supporters for being part of this journey. Hold your heads high, Cougars. The legacy continues. UPHOLD THE LEGACY. 🐾💙💛
