GC took the field against Southport in Greenwood for the first game of sectionals. It did not take long for GC to get onto the scoreboard with Grayson Young finishing a ball served in by Brennan Jack from a free kick 5 minutes into the game. Southport took control of the game for the next few minutes. Our defense was able to fend off several shots but Southport tied the game after a ball was played across the box and finished at the back post. GC came out firing in the second half but conceded another goal from a solo effort by #10. Kye Tutrow and Grayson Young combined a few minutes later to tie the game 2-2. With 3 minutes left in the game, Southport scored from a corner kick. GC pushed for the last few minutes but came up short. Although it wasn’t how we hoped to end the night, we still walk away as Conference Champs and a 10 game winning season! I will miss this team very much. The 15 seniors have been a blessing to coach and have made this program better! Great Season with a BANGARANG Family! 💙💛🗡️
