Oldenburg struck first in the 8th minute after Caroline Felver made an excellent initial save, but the rebound was finished to make it 1–0. They got their 2nd goal in the 25th minute of the match. GC continued to battle and create chances. In the 28th minute, Lucy Blanton delivered a service up top to Aubrey Bush, who went 1-v-1 with the goalkeeper and finished to cut the deficit to 2–1 heading into halftime. The Cougars continued to attack in the second half, with chances from Ainsley Robinson, Lexi Kerkhof, Bush and Jessica Kleinknight. Felver came up with another big save in the 25th minute to keep GC within striking distance. Oldenburg added a third goal in the 29th minute, and the Cougars continued to push until the final whistle.
