The varsity volleyball team went 3-1 at the Covenant Christian Invite, putting them at an overall record of 3-3 this season. The Cougars played Herron High School in the first game of the day and took the set 2-0 with scores of 25-11 and 25-20. With the momentum of getting their first win of the season, they put the pressure on the Triton Central Tigers and secured the win in two sets with scores of 25-15 and 25-20. In the third match of the day the Cougars showed resiliency and teamwork to secure the win against Covenant Christian. GC took the first set 25-21. In the second set, Covenant Christian jumped up to a 10-0 lead. The Cougars left it all on the court and closed the gap one point at a time until they took the lead and closed out the match 25-16. In the championship match, the Cougars faced the toughest competition they had seen that day. Struggling to control the game, GC fell in the first set 25-8 to Guerin Catholic. The Cougars performed better in the second set, but ultimately lost 25-16. Overall the varsity volleyball team played competitively and showed a lot of improvement in this tournament.
