GCHS Women's Soccer Varsity vs Roncalli High School (2 - 1) Win The Cougars hit the road tonight to take on Roncalli, and from the opening whistle, it was a back-and-forth battle! Caroline Felver came up huge early, making two saves in the first 10 minutes and continuing to provide a strong presence in goal. Roncalli would find the back of the net off a corner kick in the 26th minute, sending GC into halftime down 0–1. The Cougars came out of halftime ready to respond. Just five minutes into the second half, Mia Brinkruff drew a foul in the box, and Aubrey Bush calmly buried the penalty kick to level the match at 1–1! 🔥 GC continued to push forward, with Lucy Blanton creating opportunities on the right side and the Cougar defense standing strong. Paislee Brown, Millie Aldridge and Brooklyn Emmerling did an outstanding job holding the line, with Jessica Kleinknight and Lexi Kerkhof helping keep Roncalli’s attack under control. With the match winding down, Caroline came up with another huge save to keep GC in it. Then came the moment! 🙌 With just over 10 minutes remaining, Ainsley Robinson unleashed a 20-yard shot that found the back of the net, giving the Cougars a 2–1 lead! 💥⚽️ Roncalli made one final push, but the Cougar defense refused to break. With just 2:50 remaining, Aubrey Bush showed tremendous effort with a 70-yard sprint to keep possession alive in the attacking third. GC continued to battle through Roncalli’s late surge and held strong until the final whistle.
