The Cougars battled Franklin Central in a back-and-forth match from the opening whistle! GC came out strong, creating several early chances. Lexi Kerkhof found the back of the net around the 10-minute mark to give the Cougars the lead. Ainsley Robinson delivered a dangerous corner in the 14th minute, and Mia Brinkruff rose to put the header home for a 2-0 GC lead. The Cougars continued to create opportunities throughout the first half, with shots from Aubrey Bush, Ainsley Robinson and Lucy Blanton. Carol Felver came up with a tremendous save late in the half to preserve the advantage. HALFTIME: GC 2 – Franklin Central 0 Just 20 seconds into the second half, Ainsley Robinson struck again, sending a 30-yard strike over the goalkeeper for a 3-0 lead! Franklin Central continued to battle and found the net twice in the late in second half, cutting the lead to 3-2. The Cougars held strong through a tense, back-and-forth finish and battled all the way to the final whistle.
