The postseason journey continued for the Greenfield-Central girls track and field team Tuesday night at the IHSAA Regional, where the Cougars battled against some of the best competition in the state and delivered several standout performances. Leading the way was senior Juliann Jones, who secured a state qualifying spot with a runner-up finish in the long jump. Jones soared to a school-record mark of 17-11, earning second place overall and automatically qualifying for the IHSAA State Finals by finishing in the top three. Her performance capped off an incredible season and added another milestone to her already impressive career. Freshman Mia Brinkruff placed fourth in the 1600 meter run in 5:08.33, continuing her breakout freshman campaign while earning a callback spot in one of the state's deepest events. She also anchored the Cougars’ 4x800 relay team to a new school record and sixth-place finish in 9:35.38 alongside Josie Kinnaman, Alexis Kerkhof, and Adalyn Cole. That relay time has received a callback to the state meet where they will compete on June 5th. Brinkruff later returned in the 4x400 relay with Camilla Aldridge, Alexis Kerkhof, and Jones, as the team ran 4:10.31 against a loaded field of sprint programs. The distance group once again showed its strength throughout the evening. Josie Kinnaman finished fourth in the 3200 meter run in 11:18.05, missing a state qualifying spot in one of the deepest regional races in Indiana. Alexis Kerkhof added an 11th-place finish in the 1600 in 5:29.00 while continuing to contribute across multiple events during the postseason run. In the field events, the Cougars received strong efforts from several athletes who may have competed in their final meet of the season. Senior Evelyn Schini closed out an outstanding year with a sixth-place finish in discus at 111-02. Pole vaulters Aspen Wiswell and Zoey Bauer also represented Greenfield-Central well against elite competition, with Wiswell clearing 9-0 and Bauer finishing at 8-0.
