In one of the biggest wins of the season, the Cougars walked off Shelbyville 3-2 in 10 innings Thursday night on Senior Night, moving to 16-9 on the season and 9-4 in HHC play. Brady Martin started and battled through 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 6. Hunter Robling then took over and was absolutely electric, throwing 4 shutout innings, allowing 0 hits and striking out 7 to earn the win. With the game tied heading into the bottom of the 10th, senior Gage Handlon reached base and freshman Jack Herrin stepped in as a pinch hitter and delivered the walk-off RBI to score Handlon and win the game. Seniors Gage Handlon and Ethan Ortwein each went 2-for-5 to lead the offense. Fellow senior Carson Richardson added a key RBI as well. Walker Miller drew 2 walks and scored a run and Hayden Zellers contributed a hit and 2 walks on the night. The Cougars now sit in second place in the HHC at 9-4, right behind Shelbyville at 10-3. The two teams meet Saturday at Shelbyville with the HHC title on the line. A Cougar win would give Greenfield Central a share of the conference championship.
