Cougars Fall to Mt. Vernon in Game 2, 9-4

The Cougars dropped game 2 of their conference series at Mt. Vernon Wednesday night, falling 9-4 to move to 14-9 on the season. Hayden Zellers provided the offensive highlight of the night, launching a home run and driving in 3 runs to keep the Cougars in the game. Carter Ellis and Ethan Ortwein each added doubles, and Jack Herrin contributed a hit as well. Brady Martin battled on the mound, working 5.2 innings and allowing just 2 earned runs while striking out 5. The Cougars were unable to overcome a tough Mt. Vernon offense on the night. The Cougars head to Richmond tonight looking to get back on track.
