In a match decided by the thinnest of margins, the Greenfield-Central boys' golf team secured a second-place finish in a competitive three-way clash at Westwood Golf Club. The Cougars battled New Castle and Shelbyville in a contest where every single stroke proved vital to the final standings. The team race was a thriller, with Greenfield-Central carding a team score of 170, edging out Shelbyville by a lone stroke to take the runner-up spot. New Castle took the top honors on the day with a team total of 165. While the team battle was a nail-biter, the individual leaderboard was dominated by the Cougars' youth. Sophomores Everett Beaver and McCoy Wilson put on a spectacular display of golf, both turning in cards of 39. Their identical scores were the best of the afternoon, earning the pair a tie for 1st place and shared medalist honors. Navigating the Westwood course with poise, Beaver and Wilson provided the low-scoring punch that kept Greenfield-Central ahead in the team race.
