The Cougars dropped a tight conference matchup at Pendleton Heights on Thursday, falling 3-1 in a low-scoring battle. The game stayed scoreless through three before Greenfield-Central pushed across a run in the fourth. Pendleton answered with two in the fifth and one in the sixth to take the lead. Walker Miller battled on the mound, going 5.1 innings with five strikeouts and only two earned runs allowed. Steven Walker came on to finish the inning. At the plate, Henry Close led the way with two hits and scored the only run. Gavin Markus and Jacob Welch each added a hit, while Close and Hayden Zellers stole bases. Pendleton Heights starter Maifeld went the distance with eight strikeouts and just four hits allowed, making it tough to string anything together. The Cougars' defense was clean once again, committing zero errors in support. Tough conference loss, but the bats will be back.
