Greenfield-Central turned in a strong performance across the board, but once again it was the reliability of the Cougars’ throwing group that set the tone and provided a steady foundation for the team’s success. In both the discus and shot put, Greenfield-Central showed consistency and depth. Evelyn Schini led the way in the discus with a runner-up finish at 108-1, while Hadley Hill followed closely in third at 105-6. The duo continues to be one of the most dependable scoring combinations in the area, routinely delivering high finishes regardless of competition. Hill added another podium performance in the shot put, placing third with a mark of 34-0, while Schini contributed additional points with a seventh-place finish. Week after week, the throws group has proven to be a reliable source of points, giving the Cougars an edge in tight meets. On the track, Alexis Kerkhof delivered one of the most impressive performances of the night in the 3200 meters. Kerkhof not only won the race in 12:04.33, but did so in dominant fashion with a powerful closing stretch. She covered her final 800 meters in 2:36, including a blazing 1:16 final lap to separate herself from the field and secure the victory. In the field events, Ainsley Robinson turned in a breakthrough performance in the long jump. Robinson placed second with a mark of 15-9.25, setting a new personal best by an impressive 11 inches. Her jump highlighted both her development and the Cougars’ ability to produce big performances in key moments. Greenfield-Central also saw strong contributions from Juliann Jones, who placed third in the 200 meters and third in the 400 meters, while also finishing sixth in the long jump. Brooklyn Emmerling added a pair of solid efforts in the hurdles, placing third in the 100-meter hurdles and seventh in the 300 hurdles. The Cougars’ relay teams continued to be competitive, with the 4x400 relay placing third and the 4x800 relay also taking third, showcasing balance across sprint and distance groups. From dominant throws to clutch performances on the track and in the field, Greenfield-Central continues to show it has the depth and reliability to compete at a high level. And as the postseason approaches, that consistency—especially in the throwing events—could prove to be the difference-maker.
