Cougar Baseball Opens Conference Series with 6-2 Win Over Yorktown

The Cougars picked up a 6-2 conference win over Yorktown, moving to 8-4 on the season behind another strong pitching performance. Gavin Markus got the start and was sharp, working 5 innings with 7 strikeouts while allowing just 2 earned runs. Hunter Robling came on in relief and was dominant, throwing a perfect inning with 2 strikeouts. Kasen Jarnecke closed things out with a clean inning to seal the win. Hayden Zellers launched his 2nd home run of the season and drove in 3 runs. Zellers continues to swing a hot bat, now hitting .405 on the season. Jordan Welch added 2 RBIs including a sacrifice fly. Cooper Safford contributed a double and scored a run. Carson Richardson crossed the plate twice and Ethan Ortwein and Henry Close also contributed on the night.
