By Aaron Smith | Apr 22, 2026 1:14 PM

On a cold, rainy, windy Saturday, the Cougars competed at the Delta Invitational. The meet consisted of a few normal individual events on the track and few different relays. The field events were the same as always. The Cougars were dominate in the field events going 1 and 2 in the discus with Von Quigley and Memphis Blevens throwing 152'9" and 130'10" respectively. Quigley added a second in the shot put with throw of 44'8.5". Liam Taylor and Hunter Jones tied for first in the pole vault with a vault of 10'6". Gavin Smith finished 4th in the long jump with a jump of 17'2.5". Baron Linder was also 6th place in the long jump with a jump of 16'11.50". Both Smith and Linder greatly improved upon their seeds in the long jump. On the track, Garrett Jack was the lone individual win for the Cougars. Jack ran a great 400 race against a tough Delta competitor to finish first with a time of 52.70. The Coed 4x4 of Juliann Jones, Garrett Jack, Camilla Aldridge, and Everett Bishop won the event. Since this was the first time Delta had hosted the meet, and this was the first time a Greenfield team had ever run a coed 4x4, the team has both the meet and school records. Their time was 3:53.55. Other scorers for the Cougars include: 2nd Place Finishers Ian Erwin (200, 24.00), Nick Ryba (110 hurdles, 17.49), the. 4x1 team of Baron Linder, Gavin Smith, Jaxon Conaway, and Ian Erwin (45.18), and the middle distance relay (8,4,4,8) of David Wasson, Jaxon Conaway, Hunter Wiswell, and Otto Sickels (6:09.38). 3rd Place Finishers 4x800 team of David Wasson, Hunter Wiswell, Otto Sickels, and Jack Wait (9:23.68). 4th Place Finisher Michael Peterson (Full Mile, 5:03.69) 5th Place Finisher Gavin Smith (200, 25.67)
