The Greenfield-Central girls track and field team delivered a complete team performance to capture the championship at the Pendleton Heights Invitational, using depth across distance, relays, and field events to secure the meet title. The Cougars were led by standout performances in the distance events, highlighted by Josie Kinnaman’s first-place finish in the 3200 meters in 11:36.06. Kendall Barrett added valuable points with a third-place finish, while the distance group continued to shine in the 1600 with Adalyn Cole placing third and Ashlyn Devlin finishing sixth. Devlin’s performance in the 1600 was especially notable, as she dipped under the six-minute barrier with a time of 5:59.19. Coming into the season with a personal best of 6:34, the improvement marks a significant breakthrough and highlights her continued development this spring. In the 800 meters, Alexis Kerkhof led the way with a runner-up finish in 2:31.84, while Addison Gordon added key team points with a sixth-place effort. The relay teams played a crucial role in the team victory. The 4x800 relay team of Harper Rahe, Kamryn Smith, Taylor Cooksey, and Adalyn Cole placed second in 10:51.50, while the 4x400 group of Camilla Aldridge, Cerenity Minchin, Taylor Cooksey, and Alexis Kerkhof added another strong performance with a fifth-place finish. The 4x100 relay team of Hailey Fegal, Ainsley Robinson, Addison Campbell, and Camilla Aldridge also contributed with a sixth-place finish. In the field events, Jaidynn Vermilyer claimed an individual title in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 9 inches. The throwing group added significant points, led by Hadley Hill’s runner-up finish in the discus (112-6) and fifth-place finish in the shot put. Evelyn Schini contributed with a third-place finish in the discus and seventh in the shot put. In pole vault Zoey Bauer and Aspen Wiswell both had great days as they placed 3rd and 5th, earning valuable points for the team. In the 300 hurdles, Brooklyn Emmerling and Cerenity Minchin also had a strong finish, placing 4th and 5th, respectively. Altogether, the Cougars combined event wins, podium finishes, and strong depth scoring to outpace the competition and secure the Pendleton Heights Invitational team championship, showcasing a well-rounded lineup capable of competing across all areas of the meet.
