Greenfield Central rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off Wapahani 4-3 Monday night, moving to 3-2 on the season in an exciting come-from-behind win. Two freshmen stole the show on the mound. Jack Herrin got the start and was outstanding, working 4.1 innings and allowing just 1 earned run while striking out 6. Kyson Nicholson came on in relief to make his debut and was equally impressive, shutting Wapahani down over the final 2.2 innings, striking out 5 without allowing a run. Nicholson earned is first varsity win. Herrin was just as impressive at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 to lead the Cougar offense. Walker Miller delivered the game winning hit in the seventh to walk it off, finishing the night with 2 RBIs. Morgan White chipped in with an RBI as well. Ethan Ortwein had a big night going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. The Cougars trailed heading into the seventh but refused to quit, putting together the kind of rally that has defined this young season. A talented group of freshmen is making their presence felt early for Greenfield Central.
