By Mitch Gibson | Apr 4, 2026 2:00 PM

Cougars Fall to #6 Morgan Township in eight innings, falling to 2-2 on the season. The Cougars trailed early but kept battling back in true Cougar fashion, putting up a big 3-run fourth inning to pull back into the game and adding another run in the sixth to tie it up. With a chance to win it in the seventh, Greenfield Central couldn't push the winning run across, and Morgan Township plated the deciding run in the top of the eighth to seal it. Henry Close was outstanding in relief, throwing 2.1 innings of shutout baseball. Walker Miller and Steven Walker also took the hill in a game that went down to the wire. Offensively the Cougars collected 5 hits and drew 10 walks, putting constant pressure on Morgan Township all night. Gavin Markus, Carter Ellis, Cooper Safford and Hayden Kidd each drove in runs. Despite the loss, the Cougars showed plenty of heart battling one of 1A's best on a tough night.
