Cougars Outlast #9 Chesterton 10-9 in the Prep Baseball Report Indiana Series at Championship Park in Kokomo moving to 2-0 on the season. Gavin Markus got the start on the mound before the delay interrupted the flow of the game. When play resumed, it was Parker Springman who stepped up and made an immediate statement in his first varsity appearance — tossing 3 strong innings out of the bullpen, allowing just 2 earned runs on 3 hits while striking out 6. Springman earned the win. The turning point of the game came off the bat of Hayden Kidd, who launched a massive 3-run home run to tie the ball game and swing the momentum firmly in Greenfield Central's favor. Brady Martin then put an exclamation point on the night, coming in for the seventh and retiring the side in order to earn the save. Offensively, the Cougars collected 6 hits and drew 10 walks, grinding out at-bats all night long. Kidd finished 1-for-3 with the big home run and 3 RBIs. Markus backed him up with a 2-for-3 night, adding a double and 3 RBIs of his own. Hayden Zellers contributed a hit, an RBI, a stolen base, and scored twice. Cooper Safford added a double and an RBI. Henry Close and Carter Ellis each crossed the plate twice to help fuel the Cougars' rally.
