Relay Record Highlights Strong Meet for Cougars

The Greenfield-Central girls track and field team delivered several standout performances at the Red Devil Classic HSR Qualifier, highlighted by a record-breaking effort in the 4x800 meter relay and multiple high-placing finishes across the meet. The Cougars’ biggest moment of the day came in the 4x800 meter relay, where the team of Josie Kinnaman, Adalyn Cole, Alexis Kerkhof, and Mia Brinkruff captured first place with a time of 9:53.82. The performance shattered the previous Greenfield-Central school record by nearly 50 seconds, marking the second school record this week, and the third record for Josie Kinnaman this week. Greenfield-Central also found success in the 4x400 meter relay, where Camilla Aldridge, Alexis Kerkhof, Cerenity Minchin, and Mia Brinkruff combined to finish third in 4:30.28, one of the top relay finishes of the meet for the Cougars. Individually, several athletes delivered strong performances. Abbey Malet led the field in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 10 inches to claim first place. In the 3200 meters, senior Kendall Barrett ran to a third-place finish in 13:05.20, while Brooklyn Emmerling placed fifth in the 60 meter hurdles finals with a time of 10.89. In the field events, Hadley Hill added another top finish for the Cougars, placing fifth in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 11 inches, while teammate Naomi Campbell finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 13 feet, 6 inches. Overall, the Cougars showed strong depth across relays, distance events, hurdles, and field events, with the record-breaking 4x800 relay highlighting a promising start to the indoor season.
