The Cougars earned an impressive road victory last Saturday at Martinsville High School, defeating the Artesians 64–51 behind efficient offense and disruptive defense. Offensively, Greenfield-Central made the most of its opportunities, scoring 64 points despite a relatively low shot volume. The Cougars shot a strong 46% from the field (19-of-41), consistently creating and converting clean looks. They also leaned effectively on the three-point shot, connecting at 36% from deep, providing valuable perimeter scoring balance. GC attacked the paint and got to the free-throw line at an elite rate, creating numerous scoring opportunities. While free-throw conversion wasn’t as efficient as desired, the ability to draw fouls played a major role in sustaining offensive output. Clay Mullins led the way with 21 points, while Cole Mullins added 18 points, and Malachi Van contributed 13 points, giving the Cougars three strong scoring options throughout the night. Defensively, Greenfield-Central set the tone by forcing a high number of turnovers, creating extra possessions and limiting Martinsville’s rhythm. The Cougars held the Artesians to 51 points, protected the rim effectively, and did solid work on the defensive glass to limit second-chance opportunities. Although Martinsville found some efficiency from the perimeter, GC’s pressure and interior presence controlled the overall flow of the game. A strong road performance as the Cougars continue building momentum.
