FINAL: Muncie Central def. Greenfield-Central The Cougars suffered a home loss to Muncie Central on Saturday after a slow start left them trailing by 18 points at halftime. Greenfield-Central showed improved energy and execution in the second half but couldn’t overcome the early deficit. Offensively, the Cougars shot the ball well overall, finishing at 49% from the field and recording 17 assists, but a heavy reliance on the three-point shot — with 53% of attempts coming from deep — combined with a 29% conversion rate and 13 turnovers prevented sustained scoring runs. Defensively, GC created pressure with 9 steals and 13 forced turnovers, but struggled to control the paint and the glass. Muncie Central converted 27 of 43 shots (63%), scoring efficiently throughout the night — especially inside the arc — while also holding a 24–18 rebounding advantage. The high opponent shooting percentage neutralized much of the impact from the Cougars’ takeaways. Four Cougars finished in double figures, led by Isaiah Humes with 17 points. Cole Mullins and Malachi Van added 11 points apiece, and Clay Mullins chipped in 10 points. Greenfield-Central will look to respond and continue building consistency moving forward.
