Wow! And again Wow! The Lady Cougars finished their regular season last night on the road at Yorktown. As was the case the night before, the Cougars got off to a slow start and were having a hard time finding the bottom of the net. They found themselves trailing at halftime 15-24. The Cougars came out in the 3rd quarter and ran their offense better, but was still having a hard time getting shots to fall. When the 4th quarter began, the Cougars found themselves looking at a 16 point deficit. However, as this team has shown all year that there is no quit in their DNA. With a lot of heart and grit, as well as shots starting to fall, the Cougars fought their way back to tie the score at 46 all at the end of regulation. In the 4:00 overtime, the Cougars kept the momentum rolling and outscored the Tigers by a score of 10-4 to earn their 5th consecutive win 56-50! The win also evened their record to 11-11 on the season. The Cougars had three players in double figures led by junior Izzy Silcox's 20 points. Joining Izzy with double figures was freshman Lexi Kerkhof and sophomore Brooklynn Study with 15 and 13 points respectively. The Tigers also had 3 players in double figures with senior Lilly Sylvester leading the way with 15. The Lady Cougars begin IHSAA Sectional play on Tuesday night at Pendleton Heights. They play the second game of the night against the Bearcats of Muncie Central. Tip-off is at approximately 7:30. We are hoping that everyone can make the short drive to Pendleton on Tuesday night to support the team. It would be great to see our side of the gym filled with loud Cougar fans! Let's Go Cougars!!!
