Greenfield Lady Cougars drop their season opener to Perry Meridian, but a lot of promise in this young squad. The Lady Cougars gave up 30pts in forfeits from a lineup with five open weight classes. GC wrestled only 9 girls, but won 5 of those matches by first period pins putting them ahead of their opponents 30-21. It was the forfeits that cost the girls the win. Head coach Joseph Harris is excited about the talent he has in the room. Winners from Wednesday night include: Senior Keely Allen, Junior Asia Bowen, Sophomore Nevaeh Branscum, and Freshmen Alex Bousman and Bella McCullough. All five lady cougars pinned their opponents in the opening round. The Lady Cougars next contest will be this Saturday at the Purdue-Poly Girls invitational.
