Munice, IN (September 7, 2019) – The Greenfield Central Varsity Volleyball team lost to the Muncie Burris Owls in the championship match of the Shondell Family Invite.

After a long break between the end of pool play and the beginning of the championship match the lady Cougars started the game flat. Rallying energy towards the end of the first set allowed Greenfield Central to take some momentum into the second set. The cougars led for most of the second set but fell short in the end. Setters Morgan Hornaday and Ali Knecht combined for 26 assists. Outside hitters Makayla Price and Ava Antic were selected for the All Tournament Team.

“It was a long and difficult day for the team,” said Coach Ron Heck. “I am very happy with how we played in pool play. The Evansville Memorial match was one of our best of the season and I am very proud of how the team came together and gave it their all. It was hard to have such a long break and be able to mentally come back into the gym prepared for a tough match against a very talented Munice Burris team. I am very pleased with the progress we have made so far this season.”

The Cougars are back in action at home against Cowan on Tuesday September 10th with JV beginning at 6:00pm and Varsity to follow.
