The Cougars took place in one of the most competitive County Tournaments in years over the weekend. At the end of the first round, New Palestine, Mt Vernon and Greenfield Central all had three teams in the finals and were tied at 9 points. The Cougars advanced 1 doubles Seth Kirkpatrick and Kane Bradley, 2 doubles Corbin Tilley and Robbie Dye and 3 singles Carson Gibson. 2 singles Garrett Neumeister had a tough match in round 1 against the 2 singles champion from MV. Neumeister led for most of the first set but fell short in a tie break and then lost in the second set.

In round 2, the Cougars had a chance to take first place in the tournament but they did not quite look like themselves. Everyone kept their matches close but couldn’t get the momentum they needed to take control of the match.

The JV team had a much better showing in the final round of their tournament. 1 singles Nick Grandstaff, 2 singles Tyler Hornaday, 3 singles Alex Hager, and 2 doubles Matt Hyre and Casey Hunt all advanced to the winners bracket. Both 2 singles Tyler Hornaday and 3 singles Alex Hager won their individual tournaments. 1 singles and 2 doubles finished in second place and 1 doubles Jack Weidner and Jadon Yeager finished in 3rd place. The team finished in 2nd place with 22 points, just 2 points behind first place MV.
