If the Lady Cougars had to have a theme for both games today it would NOT be the Wizard of Oz theme because unlike in the Wizard of Oz movie the Lady Cougars did NOT feel like there was “No place like Home”. Excellent defense and strong pitching and enough good hits still provided the win for the Ladies. The game started with first 3 batters reaching base and no outs but the Cougars did not cross home with any runs that inning. We did, however, manage to send in our invisible made up doctor to test the girls nerves on defense and test results showed that all the girls, but 2, nerves were made of steel and one was 50% steel and 50% skittles and another was 125% pudding and we think that result might have been Coach Francis results taken by mistake. Every inning but one the Hornets managed to get a runner on base and 5 of those 7 innings they too struggled to find home as they were held scoreless. Alexi “Heatmizer” Rankin got the start and pitched full game improving her record to 7-0 on season and had 7 strikeouts. For the Cougars on offense in top of 2nd Zoe Kessler, Kensie Bradley and Megan Wineinger all reached base before Sam “Da Bulldog” Kihega drove in 2 with a single. In top of 4th Bradley scored again off of another Kihega single. Top of 5th Emily Francis led inning off with a double before Ellie Ewald drove in run. in top of 7th the Cougars scored 2 off Rbi single from Bradley and a bases loaded walk to Kihega. Kensie “BB” Bradley was 4-4 with a walk and 4 stolen bases and Sam “Da Bulldog” Kihega was 2-2 with 3 walks and 4 Rbi. Cougars left 13 runners on base who didn’t click their heels 3 times and repeat there is no place like home!! Still improved to 9-1 on season
