Wednesday was Senior Night for the Lady Cougars as they faced off against former coach, Erin Clark’s New Palestine Dragons. In a very physical first half, the score remained 0-0. But, less than 4 minutes into the second half Kelsi McLaughlin took a short corner pass from Kennedy Trapp and ripped a left footed shot into the net for a 1-0 lead. That lead lasted only 3 minutes as the Dragons tied it up 1-1. Then the Dragons tapped in a corner kick to put the Cougars down 2-1 with just 27 minutes to play. Kennedy Trapp took a ball out of the air and skipped it back to Anne Marie Dekeyser, who made one touch in to space and slotted home the tying goal for a score of 2-2. Neither team could score in regulation, or the first 7 minute overtime session. Then, with just 1:14 left in the game, Anne Marie hit a streaking Kelsi McLaughlin, who made multiple defenders miss before hammering home the game winner for the home team Cougars. The final score was 3-2, earning the team’s fourth straight conference win. They are now 8-2, and 4-1 in the HHC. Their next two games are on Saturday for their Kickin Cancer Tourney. Please come out to support the team and their fight!!
